How to Spot Network Marketing Scams Known as a Pyramid Scheme, these type of schemes have been around for many years, and that is actually the way the money flows to the organization is by each new distributor paying a few to join. Some people today refer to all network marketing schemes as pyramids if you even pay anything in the way of a sales kit. For example, if you pay for a sales kit as a condition of your distributorship, that does not constitute a pyramid because you are getting something for your money. Paying for a sales kit introduces you to the products your organization distributes and gives you an introduction into using your own products. For example, before network marketing hit the Internet, how would it have looked if you were a distributor of XYZ Corporation, you brought a potential distributor to your home for a marketing demonstration, and you had none of the products in your home? It certainly would not make you very credible as a recruiter, would it? That’s why the sales kits were provided to introduced, so that new distributors could begin using the products of their organization. Network marketing is not immune to scams by any means, and it’s important that you be aware of anything that sounds unethical or illegal. Paying something for nothing is a red flag off the bat, but there may be others as well. Scams crop up all the time, so you need to make yourself aware of their existence. Follow the adage that if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. In the mid 1990s when both Amway and Prim America were competing for a piece of the pie, there was another organization who attempted to convince people they were “better” than Amway. And when people joined, they discovered that unlike Amway, a distributor could not pass his sponsor; he had to wait until his sponsor moved up the ladder before he could. Prim America, on the other hand, did not have unlimited spots at the top of the ladder nor was there room in the middle to move at an enormous pace – it required positions to be available as in any corporate structure. These marketing plans may have been changed since then, but that is just an example of some of the tactics unscrupulous network marketing upline may use in order to bring in new recruits, especially if they know that recruit is with another organization. Also, listen to sales pitches with both ears open and do plenty of research before you make any commitments, and it will be difficult for others to bring you into their web of deception.

Become the Hunted, Get Your MLM Leads to Call You The reason is that the certain individual feels the sponsor can truly show him the way to freedom. The perceived value of the sponsor is truly high. In other words, the individual feels that the sponsor can show them how to duplicate their success. So how do you raise your perceived value which will lead to more sign ups? The answer is simple; you need to add more value to yourself. You probably knew I was going to say that though, let me explain. First you need to know what value really is in this industry. Value is knowledge and information, plain and simple. The information you know will truly lead others to success. The main reason I sponsored with my current team member is because he know more than me about marketing and promoting. My perceived value of him was extremely high, so I didn't have to think twice about joining him. Back to the question of how to gain value. Go out and learn something your prospects don't know. Fill a need or a problem that your prospects have. Give them information for free in a newsletter and teach them all that you know. The golden rule of marketing states, "Give without any expectation of getting something in return." Alright well maybe I just made that up, but should be the golden rule because people have this industry very twisted. Everyone expects people to just join up with them on their team automatically. Throw some replicated websites up and sponsor them, it's that easy. Don't get me wrong, there're some doing this but the people in their organization have a drop out rate of about three months. Do you really want to rebuild your organization every three months? If one of these people came up to me and said, "Hey you should join my business." I would take that as, "Hey I don't know you, but give me 1000 bucks." Ultimately people join people, not a product, not a comp plan and not a company. They join you. So ask yourself a question. Would you want to join you? This is huge, once you truly believe deep in your heart that you can help people then yes people will want to work with you. Please do it right the first time and you will have long term success, I guarantee it. Helping people for free builds trust and it builds relationships, which is the right way to build a business. If you help people solve their problems, soon enough your problems will have solutions too. If I kept learning something different from someone every couple days or every week I would definitely pay money to join their team. Simply because the perceived value is so high due to all the knowledge they have shared. So what am I suggesting to you? Go out and start adding value to yourself. Get educated on the industry and start learning what really works. In this industry if you learn something that works you will have more value than 90 percent of everyone in it. There is a lot of horrid information going around so if you find something that works, share it with people. Trust me people will sign up with you just to learn more.

Usually, their success is short-lived as people soon realize they are getting to return on their investment. Some of these folks may have been really good at marketing in the off-line world but have not been able to adapt to the global concept of network marketing for an online business. They are stuck in the old days and as such, their marketing ideas are only working for businesses stuck in the old ways as well. Being able to make that leap is a genuine need to be successful in today’s internet marketing world. When they went to college to learn marketing, in the days before the internet, they learned valuable information on the best ways to promote a company’s name. Advertising promoted specific products and marketing promoted the company’s brand. In today’s internet marketing you have to be able to do both at the same time and it takes a different type of expertise to pull it off. Becoming involved in internet network marketing is more than just posting ads on hundreds or thousands of affiliate websites. The message you post must be geared to a diverse audience as it is impossible to know exactly who will be viewing your message. A smart affiliate will not post ads on their site that have no relationship to their own message, still others will post just about any type ad, other than those relating to their business for fear of the extra competition. Another thought has it that the common web surfer, that is those with no knowledge of or interest in internet marketing may be seeing a different message when they ads on a web site. These folks, commonly referred to as potential customers, only see advertising and do not know or care whether it is paid ads or not. Being an affiliate with well-known businesses may lead them to the conclusion that your site must be pretty good to keep company with such big businesses. Surrounding yourself with good people has long been an accepted method of helping your business get better, By bringing in the smartest and brightest stars, new and innovative ideas have helped many businesses prosper. The same theory could be applied to network marketing as having your name associated with the biggest and brightest companies can make your site shine even brighter. Perhaps a better name would be success by association. For example, you run a computer hardware sales company on the internet and become an affiliate of Cisco, many may interpret that as an endorsement of your business by one of the biggest computer network hardware manufacturers, which gives your name a boost.
