How To Choose A Direct Marketing MLM Company
You can find a real dream direct marketing mlm company and create tremendous wealth, but you can also wind up with the wrong company and
have a horrendous experience. This article will help you choose the right direct marketing mlm company by explaining to you the types of
companies out there and by teaching you how to find the right type of company needed to become very successful in this industry.
MLM Training - Lead With the Product or the Business - Tips to Get the Best Results
By Tim Sales
Want to know if its better to lead with the product or the business first? Use this MLM training tip to get the most out of product sales and
business recruits without coming across as a pushy salesperson.
One of the first decisions you need to make before you actually call a prospect is whether youre calling to promote the product or the
business. This MLM training tip is backed by statistics. You can do either - just not both at the same time.
Leading with the product
Ill first describe "leading with the product." When you invite someone to look at your product and then around the same time (thats a key part
of it) tell them they can make money with it, well, Ive not seen this work well.
In the few prospects I was able to get to talk to me about it, they felt "yucky" that I would be making money off them buying the product.
I found a way around this, as part of my own MLM training.
This taught me that I dont discuss buying a product and mention at the same time that they can make money doing what Im doing.
Heres how I was able to still promote the business by leading with the product though.
After the person has been a happy customer for a month or more, at the point where they place a second or third order, I ask them if they know
anyone who would like to receive the same benefits as they have received.
After they've given me a referral that wants to buy the product, before I place that referrals order I will then call my original customer and
tell them that I can take them to dinner and thank them for the referral or give them a commission for referring the prospect. I ask them which
they prefer. This works the best.
If youre inviting for your product, find out from your upline a proven way to introduce the product to prospects. If you dont find a proven
way from your upline, you get to create it.
Leading with the business
If you invite your prospect to look at your business you obviously have to tell them what the product is, but do not get heavily into product
discussions.
I've seen many times that the discussion heads into deep ingredient questions.
I've found that its best to keep the product discussion general when you talk to someone about the business.
Let me explain what I mean by general. I will talk about the product trends for the product my company carries; such as supplementation.
Something like, "Consumers spent x number of dollars last year buying supplements." And that's as deep of a discussion about products that I
care to get into when leading with business.
Otherwise it just becomes a Pandoras Box - one question leads to another...that leads to another.
This often starts because people want to try to impress their prospect by using big words to show they're smart - but all you do is confuse
the heck out of them and have them think they have to become a biochemist to succeed.
The above comments also remain throughout all your business activities. I do not recommend you use a website that explains both business and
products. If you want to sell a product - have a web page with only that product on it.
If that product is within a system of products that belong together it is fine to have the additional products within that system on the
page.
As an example if you sell weight management and you tell your prospect about the meal replacement shakes and on the same web page you have
links to appetite suppressants that is fine - but do not include unrelated products or discussion on the compensation plan.
I remember when I saw my first presentation in network marketing the presenter said,
"We show people the business and if they dont want to be in the business we can get them on the product."
Sounded good to me, I thought and continually attempted to do...but very few times I actually was able to do it the way it was presented to
me. So I was not able to create many customers by leading with the business.
That concludes my first answer to leading with product or business. Now let me explain my other answer.
Answer Two
If your'e familiar with my MLM training philosophy you will know that the best answer to whether you lead with product or business has to do
with what the prospect needs/wants or doesnt-want.
This goes along with the qualify step of the Inviting Formula. If when talking with the prospect they have their focus on solving a weight
management issue - then you would obviously lead with product - if of course you have a product that solves that problem for them.
If I could summarize each of these MLM training points into one central thought, it would be this:
Only lead with what your prospect will buy, and make sure dont do or say anything that would create a "yucky" situation between you and your
prospect.

These four questions can make or break your network marketing business. You need to be clear about the answers yourself, AND you
need to be able to convey those answers to your prospects.
Of course, it's obvious to you WHAT you're selling, and you probably have a pretty clear idea of WHY you're selling what you're
selling. (Something to do with a beach house in Jamaica, right? Or is it Maui?)
I'll bet you're really good at explaining the WHAT when you're recruiting, too, giving out an abundance of info on your products
and services, your company, and your compensation plan.
I'll also bet you know that to be an effective enroller, you need to explore your prospect's WHY, encouraging her to open up and
share with you all her frustrations, hopes, and dreams.
You want your new recruit to be motivated, after all. And you want to be able to demonstrate how your opportunity can help
solve her frustrations, and turn her hopes and dreams into reality.
This is all good.
But then we come to the WHO and the HOW, and at this point, many network marketers fall flat on their faces.
Your prospect needs to be able to envision herself doing this business. She wants to know exactly HOW she's going to market
your company's products and opportunity and WHO she's going to sell them to.
I'm sure a prospect has asked you this before. "What, exactly, will I be doing?"
What do you tell her?
If you give her the usual lame explanation that she'll be starting with her "warm" market of family and friends and that she
needs to make a list of everyone she knows right away, chances are she's going to be skeptical.
Anyone with prior experience in network marketing or whose brother-in-law or coworker ever hounded her to join a business is
already hip to the fact that this approach will take her down the road to humiliation and social isolation. No one wants this.
Plus, there's the dirty little fact that hardly any of the really successful people in network marketing got there by recruiting
friends and relatives.
I'm not saying it never happens, but in general, you can't rely on the warm market strategy to get you where you want to go. And
recommending it to your prospects just compounds the problem.
So what IS the HOW? And who IS the WHO?
What if you don't really know the answers to these questions yourself?
To shed some light on this, let's take a look at another group of professionals - real marketers. In other words,
professional business people who actually make a living marketing products and services.
You don't see them hitting on their family and friends. Or putting flyers on windshields, or tacking up posters on coffee shop
bulletin boards, or dropping their business cards in restrooms, or inviting their neighbors over for product parties.
This is the scatter-shot, if-I-just-shoot-enough-bullets-in-that-general-direction-maybe-I'll-eventually-hit-a-duck approach.
You're going to run out of ammo long before you see any results. You do these things if you want a hobby, not a business.
By contrast, professional marketers know exactly WHO makes up their target market - people who already see a need and have a
desire for the marketer's products or services. Their HOW uses laser-focused, thoroughly tested strategies to reach that target market.
If you really want your business to be a business, to allow you to quit your J.O.B, to support you in your retirement, to give
you the lifestyle of your dreams, then you need to treat it as a business and start using the marketing strategies that real, successful
businesses use.
You need to find out how real marketers reach thousands of prospects and sift and sort and qualify them so they only talk to the
best ones?
If you learn to do that, and learn how to teach it to your downline, what will it do to your organization?
I'll admit -- it takes digging, and researching, and lots of reading to learn real, effective marketing techniques.
Fortunately, you can find plenty of resources out there to help you. And when you're done with your basic research, you'll want
to try things out and experiment to see what works best for your business.
You'll experience a very steep and exhilarating learning curve for a while. But believe me, you'll think it's SO worth it when
you've joined the ranks of the really successful network marketers and you're sipping Mai-tai's in Maui.

How To Choose A Direct Marketing MLM Company
By Rob Corbett
You can find a real dream direct marketing mlm company and create tremendous wealth, but you can also wind up with the wrong company and have
a horrendous experience.
This article will help you choose the right direct marketing mlm company by explaining to you the types of companies out there and by teaching
you how to find the right type of company needed to become very successful in this industry.
First it is important to understand that there are four types of direct marketing mlm companies on the market, lets put them into
categories:
Category#1:
These types of opportunities for lack of a better word and no sense beating around the bush are the scams, the schemes, the pyramid deals,
etc!
Basically ways to launder money between friends! Yes unfortunately there are bad people running around pretending to be real network
marketers!
Once you know what to look for it is actually very easy to spot one of these scams. Here are two quick guidelines:
1. If the company tells you they are going to pay you to recruit someone this is a scam, turn around and run away very quickly! You Can
Not get paid to recruit people that is illegal! The only time and I mean the only time you can get paid is when a product or service is
provided!
2. If there is no product associated with the opportunity! There must be a real viable product and not just some made up hoax
camouflaged to be a product. If the regulators deem that it is not a real viable product they will shut the company down quickly! So when in
doubt stay clear!
Category #2:
The 2nd type of direct marketing mlm opportunity or company you will find out there are the small party plan companies!
We have all seen these. The little companies that recruit you to sell Candles, Tupperware and Kitchen-ware type of products around your
kitchen table and your friends kitchen table. Basically a part-time retail business.
Nothing wrong with these companies except it is very hard to create any serious income with them. They are more of a part time job type of
deal where you could make a few hundred dollars a month if you are very good.
Category #3:
The 3rd type of direct marketing mlm opportunity are the big guys! The literal giants of the network marketing, direct selling and mlm
industry. These are the guys who have been around for 10, 20, 30 even 60 some years!
They have an outstanding track record and do at least a billion dollars in sales each and every year in the direct marketing mlm industry.
These are companies such as Amway, Shaklee, Mary Kay, Avon, Xango, Usana, Herbalife, etc! There is actually about 20 of these companies out there
on the market!
Now I know what you are thinking, you are saying "thanks Rob, now I am set! All I have to do is go and join one of these companies and I am
good to go!"
NO NO NO!!!
This is where 99% of the people who join the direct marketing mlm industry go wrong! A proven track record of success is actually NOT the way
to go!
I know that is hard to believe and goes against traditional business sense, however, I can virtually assure you that if you have ever been in
this industry before or know of anyone who has and failed or did not have they success they desired, they have been involved with one of the
three opportunities I just mentioned!
None of the three of these companies is where wealth is created!!
These companies are not wealth creating opportunities anymore!
In the direct marketing mlm industry these companies are now simply income generating opportunities, very much like going out and getting a
part time job! No freedom there and no wealth to be earned there any longer.
You see with a little bit of research into the direct marketing mlm industry you will see that the wealth has ALWAYS been created in the first
5-10 years of each of the category 3 companies launch!
Makes sense doesnt it? It is amazing how many people do not consider this!
So that leads to the next one....
Category #4:
The 4th type of company really is the holy grail of the direct marketing mlm industry. This is where ALL the wealth is created in this
industry. This is where all the incredible "rag to riches" stories in this industry come from. And they only come around about once every 5-10
years.
There are two criteria for a company to be considered a category 4 company:
1. The company must still be in its early stages and have not have hit its exponential growth curb to become one of the 3rd type of
companies or one of the giants! This window is typically within the first 5-10 years of launch.
2. The company must have everything in place that the category 3 companies had in place when they launched! You see if you go back
and do some homework into this industry you will notice that all the successful companies or the category 3 companies all had certain primary
criteria in place at launch!
Here are the primary criteria:
The Company Has Just Launched (first 10 years)
A Sexy Product Story (New Revolutionary Idea)
A Breakthrough Innovation in Comp Plan Design
A Strong Leadership Line With Documented Success
Strong Financial Backing
International Opportunity (Global)
A Experienced Management Team
That is gang, if you take the time to do your research, instead of falling for the marketing hype that companies spew, you will find the
category 4 company in the direct marketing mlm industry. It will happen.
Simply make sure that the company you are looking at has ALL of the criteria above in place and you stand a good chance of finding the direct
marketing mlm company that will help you create serious wealth & freedom in this incredible industry!
