If you do any kind of web site design including copywriting, then you know that all sites are not created equally - one site converts well, and another site doesn't convert at all.

Why is that?

Well, one way you can find out what your visitors prefer is by testing several different versions of the same page.

"But that takes a lot of time and hard work" I hear you say.

Well, yes and no. It does take some time and some work, but you can make use of software solution, that will do the numbers crunching work, and make it a lot easier to manage.

Such a solution is  Split Testing Pro 

I am testing a brilliant piece of server side software called Split Testing Pro that can make several kinds of split tests. I am doing this to - hopefully - boost my conversion rate (to get more visitors to order advertising from me).

So far I am running a simple split test with three different versions of my index page - one is the "old" original page with my photo etc., the second page is the same as the first one, except from there is no photo on the page, and the third is a version with less text and without the photo.

The initial test is for 1000 views of each above 3 pages. That is the minimum for a reliable result.

The split testing software directs the search engines to the original page, and the pages used in the split test is in a seperate folder.

That way my search engine rankings for the page (#2 on page #1 in Google for the term - network marketing success - which by the way has more than 55 million search results - should not be affected (at least that is what the software developer promises.

Testing different headlines, different pictures, different ad copy and different prices is easy with software.

Once it is setup all it takes is the time to complete the test, then you pick the winner, and - if you wish - you can do another test to improve other parts of the page in question.

When done right split tests can boost your conversion rates by hundreds of percent. The difference in sales can really be huge.

Traffic Generating Schemes to Avoid

When searching for ways to generate traffic you will encounter all sorts of schemes and programs.

While, without a doubt, there are programs and methods out there that work, and work well, there are also a variety of schemes and programs that not only do not work, but are frowned upon by reputable marketers and customers, alike.

Top on my list of schemes to avoid are the Million Hits Traffic Generation schemes.

Some people believe that the more traffic to their site the better their sales.

In searching for a means of driving massive traffic to their site they wind up joining some traffic generation scheme that promises to generate a million hits on your site.

Next they will waste away their valuable time clicking away on traffic exchanges.

Now, don't get me wrong, not all traffic exchanges are schemes. However, some are exactly that.

Not to mention everyone who's using this traffic exchange is a business owner, so unless your business has more to offer than the other's do, you won't get any further with this method than you would have with any other.

Another scheme to avoid is the "sale" of traffic.

Companies will offer to "sell" you massive amounts of traffic, usually some phenomenal number like a million hits or 10 million hits and in truth what it turns out to be are popup and / or popunder advertising.

I don't know about you, but I'm plain tired of popup ads and will avoid sites that use them.

Programs like the ones I just mentioned are not and will never be replacements or solid alternatives to the tried-and-true methods of generating traffic such as SEO, pay-per-click, ezine advertising and others.

Understandably marketers will have times when they're frustrated with a lack of results, however with a little time and effort, along with education, there are a variety of methods that can be used to generate traffic and, once in place, require minimal maintenance to continue to produce results.

Although there is more work involved in these methods, when done correctly they produce real, steady results and they won't annoy your visitors!

Newsletters, do they work?

Undoubtedly at some time you have visited a web site that offered you the opportunity to receive a newsletter from them via e-mail.

If you're like most of us, you signed up for it.

Whether or not the newsletter was worth continuing to receive is dependent on the quality and content.

I mention this because it's one of the most crucial factors in whether or not a newsletter will work for your business or marketing venture.

Newsletters, like books, magazines, e-books or ezines, are only as good as their content.

You can have all the eye-catching pictures and graphics you please, and a great layout, but if the content isn't interesting and informative to your readers, then it's bound to be a waste of your time, and the time of you're their time, too.

This leads us to the question,

"What do you need to make a great newsletter?"

A great newsletter must give the readers what they want.

If you're a niche marketer you'll want to give your readers a variety of information and news related to your niche.

If you're in the Internet dating business your newsletter should cover a variety of dating-related subjects, success stories, personal improvement articles, and the like.

Whatever your market, you'll want to give the readers what they're looking for.

Many site owners have found that asking the readers for suggestions has worked very well to keep abreast of what they want in the newsletter.

In addition to great content there are other items that need to be included.

One key element that should be included in any newsletter is a link to send the reader back to your main web site.

This should be located in an area that is highly visible, preferably on the first page if your newsletter has more than one page.

This gives the reader easy access to go to your site for more information on something mentioned in the newsletter and will also entice them to visit just for the sake of visiting. Remember, people love to click on links!

Another critical element of your newsletter should be an open invitation for people to pass your newsletter along to friends.

Pass-it-along advertising has had huge success in the past and is a great free advertising tool.

So don't forget to invite your readers to pass your newsletter along!

Suzie begins searching the internet for anything and everything she can find on network marketing. She asks her upline for information. She signs up for the monthly newsletter and motivational pack. She takes a class down at the community college. She subscribes to several industry magazines. She devours every motivational book, tape, CD, and DVD she can get her hands on.

Timothy Timid was introduced to a great money making business. His friend kept calling him, emailing him, dropping by his house, and taking him to various business meetings, but Timothy finally signed up because his friend convinced him this was the opportunity of a lifetime.

Timothy really wants to find a way of making money, because he doesn’t like his job very much. He doesn’t really get along with his co-workers. In fact, he’d rather stay home than deal with people. So, the idea of making money over the internet really appeals to him.

The company would set up his website and build his downline, and all he would have to do is kick back and watch the dollars poor into his bank account.

Tina Tomorrow joined a wonderful new business. It took awhile. Her sponsor had to call her and invite her several times, and each time Tina would say, “Maybe tomorrow.” But, she finally signed up. Now her sponsor keeps asking her if she’s made her list yet. “Not today. I had a bad day at the office, my kid got in trouble at school, my car had a flat, and the plumbing went out at home… maybe tomorrow.”

Have you found the number one reason people fail at networking marketing yet? They don’t take action.

Maybe they spend all of their time learning instead of doing. Maybe they don’t take action out of fear of rejection or failure. Maybe they don’t take action because they simply don’t have the time.

Maybe they don’t take action because they are lazy and want you to do all of the work for them. Maybe they don’t take action because they simply put things off, even though they have the best of intentions to do something today.
