Network Marketing - Leader or Worker?

There is much saying this days about leaders and leadership in network marketing. Everybody is trying to become a leader and there is a lot of education about the secrets of leadership and how to become one. Is taught is praised and it has become one of the central points that every marketer talks about.

Could they have got it all wrong? Is it so essential that everyone should be taught about it from the beginning when he enters an MLM company? Cant we do without it?

Well, I will agree that leadership is important and as in the traditional business world the success of a company is defined by the leaders that it has the same goes for every network marketing company or organization.

It is the leaders who pave the way for the rest to follow, they are the people with the mental clarity the vision a strong sense of purpose and a clear destination of where they want to go that are capable to inspire us and lead us to a path that may seem obscure and uncertain to the rest of us.

In what I will disagree is the importance that it has been given for someone in the introductory level of a network marketing company. Lets face the truth, in order to make use of such a skill you need to have a group of people that you will lead and when someone starts in an MLM he is just himself.

His whole organization consists of only one people, himself. At this point what is important for him is not how to lead others, because there are no others, but to start building his team. His primary focus should be in acquiring new customers and new marketers that want to become part of his organization.

To do that he needs to learn how to do the work and actually start doing it. At the first stages of someones career as a network marketer what is important is to learn how to build his network and implement this knowledge. In other words he has to become a worker.

This is especially true to those of us who use the Internet as a promotional tool to build our business. In order to do that we need to know a few things about Internet marketing and use them which requires some form of work.

That is without to mention the continues communication with new prospects and existing members in our network. If we were to leave the work factor at the early stages of our career and give emphasis to leadership I dont think that most of us would be able to have a network to lead today.

In my opinion leadership is something that should be given more attention at a later stage of a network marketers career where it can be of use and not at the beginning that may distract him from the fact that he has a work to do.

The natural course is for someone to start as worker and as his business grows so he will naturally grow to become a leader and take the responsibilities that his position dictates. This is the moment that he would need to start learning this skill and master it through practice.

I know that many would disagree with me and would come up with very good theoretical arguments but the experience has taught me that is not unless someone concentrates into doing the required work and leaves for the time being everything else outside of his realm of attention that he would start seeing results.

I was in the same situation before years where my attention was everywhere else except from the work I should do emphasizing and spending my time in the wrong things at that moment. As a result I was unable to grow my business. It was after I decided to leave all this behind and put my focus on work that success started knocking my door.

Network Marketing – Finding That Big Leader

I can’t count the number of times that I have had someone pitch a network marketing opportunity to me and promising total financial freedom once I land the big leader.

Joining a network marketing opportunity with finding the big leader in mind is sort of like playing lotto. Here you join this network marketing company and instead of you learning how to do the business yourself you are hoping for someone else to come along and build your organization for you.

It just doesn’t really work that way in real life.

If you want to recruit a big leader then you have to be an even bigger leader. Ask yourself this, if you were a very successful business person, and you had a lot of contacts and you were a connector, a person who got things done would you join a network marketing opportunity with someone just looking for a free ride?

Probably not, why would you. If you were going to join a network marketing you would want to join with someone who is successful and has the same drive that you had when you were working in your traditional job.

So, if you want to join a network marketing opportunity and have people with leadership qualities in your organization then you are going to have to be a leader yourself to attract them. You stand a better chance of becoming a leader if you first find a network marketing company that you like and like the products.

Some of the products that network marketing companies offer are edible, some are nutritional, and some are intangible similar to a insurance product. You have to look over each type of product and not only find one you like but one that you would be comfortable offering to people.

When I started looking at companies I went for the intangible product, a discount plan, and found that I had to be selling all the time to make that one work and that wasn’t good for me since I was working my network marketing opportunity part-time.

I have since switched to a edible product and that one is working quite well for me since there is a very low drop-out rate.

It is frustrating to build up an organization only to have it keep crumbling down on you. So you have to find the perfect fit with the right company the right product and the right sponsor.

Your sponsor is the one that will train you to be a success in your chosen company. Once you learn the business and start having success of your own your chances of finding that big leader increase dramatically, but there is still no guarantee.

So to have a leader on your team you be the leader. If someone comes along who happens to be a leader and joins your team great, but if not you will still be a success.

Doing Network marketing is not easy, especially on the internet. When you ask your upline how they build up downline, they tell you to buy MLM leads and call them.

There is a service that people like us can buy mlm leads with their name, email address telephone number. So now you can call these mlm leads. Then what will happen?

You can expect your downline grow like crazy right? In my case, no one joined in my mlm business. Not even one lead. I though I can do it just not calling enough leads yet, so I did months after months. Finally I got zero downline after a year so I quit.
