The Secret To Closing More Leads, Dare I Say . . . Over The Phone!

I was walking to one of my great mentors this morning and we were talking about the process of talking to your leads.

Anyways we were talking about the process of calling leads and the posture that one needs to have to be successful. Roberts been a network marketer now coming up on his 25th anniversary in the industry, so dare I say the guy knows his stuff.

Me personally, I spent more than my fair share on leads and cold calling training never to have anything really pan out, $7,000+ on leads, and $1500+ on training, but now that Ive learned and found the way that I like to do this business Ive realized a few key reasons that I didnt succeed, and honestly I WAS partially to blame.

I think youll get quite a bit out of this lesson . . .

Robert and I discussed the idea of being a head hunter when youre out there calling leads.

Looking at the process like "Im only looking for 2 people and you may be one of them or you may not." And then making your leads prove themselves to you in their actions.

This really is the key and its the same stuff I was taught to do, but here is what tripped me up, and Im going to brutally honest.

First the leads I was calling were not targeted they were the same leads you can buy from any of the lead brokers out there, they were generic.

The problem here is you waste so much time and energy sifting through wimps, losers, and loons, that by the time you get that good lead on the phone youre not in a good enough mood to deal with them full of vitality.

If I had realized the value of generating my own leads back in those early days my rate of success surely would have been better, but we all learn what we need to when we need to.

But the bigger stumbling block I had was in posture.

I would get my leads on the phone.

Qualify them by ask question like . . .

"If I could honestly show you way to increase your income by $3,441.32 per month in the next 56 days would that be worth 15 minutes of your time?"

Those that said yes I would invite them to the call and set up a follow up appointment and it was there that I always tripped up.

Heres why?

Inevitably after your leads hear the presentation and they are interested they ask . . .

"Well, how much are you making?"

I had an ethical dilemma, or so I thought, and I would always answer with "Im doing well!" and try to leave it at that.

If they tried to get more out of me I couldnt stop myself from killing my posture by saying thing like, well Im just getting going or some other weak statement like that. (Shows how much of a rookie I was back then.)

Now, I had been trained to do otherwise, but it was that little voice in my head that would always say dont go for the hard close if you havent made money yet.

And you know what?

That was dead wrong.

Today, even though I dont cold call leads to generate prospects in my business anymore, (Why would you if you dont have to you know.) Ive been through enough now to know that I was wrong and heres why . . .

Heres the deal, if you stumble with this same problem in your business and youre leads want to know how youre doing as if it was any gauge on their prospective success heres the truth.

It doesnt matter what your business looks like right now. Why? Its your business not theirs.

All you need to be is trained on what works enough to show the next guy. This doesnt mean you have to have had massive success to create it, it just means you need to know how its done and be able to teach it.

Why?

Because there success is their success and is NOT contingent with yours.

This is what I do know when my leads call me and its the right way to do it Ive learned through experience.

If a prospect asks you "Well, how much money have you made?"

Tell them it doesnt matter and its really a misguided question. (Explain why if you like.) Then ask them what they want out of their business and if they know in their heart that they are ready to achieve it.

Then reassure them that you will be their GUIDE to that goal, but not the cause of it. Thats for them and thats what makes it exciting.

See the difference . . .

Its not your task or your place to tell them that because your business is successful that theirs is assured to be successful or vice versa, rather its your task to lead them past the hurdles youve been through.

MLM marketing is an extraordinary business, though many people fall into a trap with the MLM marketing home business, and as such, end up failing and blaming MLM marketing for there failure.

In this article I will show you several points which will make you successful in your MLM marketing home business. And remember it is a business!

Goals If you have not made any goals in your MLM marketing home business, then you destined to fail. Goals are like the pilot with a destination. Imagine a pilot without a destination!

There would be no passengers flying with an airline who just said "we are going to fly today", we would say where to?! So this is the most important step to success with your MLM marketing home business.

Set goals for 5 years time, and then work backwards for 3 years, 2 years, and 1 year. Then for your MLM marketing home business set 6 month, 3 month, and 1 month. Then set weekly and daily goals.

This will show you what needs to be done in your MLM marketing home business for long term, right down to bite size daily goals to achieve your long term goals. And when you do you will feel great achieving the small goals and going further you will have the confidence to achieve your long term goals. You know they will happen.

Just a note, if your goals in your MLM marketing home business dont materialise on short term. STICK WITH THEM. Till you achieve them, then go forward. Remember it will take 3 times more time and energy to succeed then you imagine.

Decide To succeed in your MLM marketing home business you need to make the decision. Without decision you will not succeed in your MLM marketing home business and will end up floating around without hitting your purpose. Dreamers come to mind.

Have a dream, a vision. MLM marketing is a new lifestyle of meeting people and achieving a new lifestyle, outgoing and soaring with the eagles. So be prepared to grow. Know what this entails. Treat it like a business and you will succeed. Set a vision for your MLM marketing home business which includes wealth, relationships and all areas of your life.

When you treat your MLM marketing home business like a business you will find whoever you speak to or come in contact you will say Im so and so, and when they ask what you do, you will speak about your business.

Confidence Confidence is absolutely essential in your success with your MLM marketing home business. Remember the key to confidence whether in your MLM marketing home business or anywhere is to at least start.

A journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step. As you continue on your journey with your MLM marketing home business, you will soon find your at your destination and realise you have confidence. We all do, you just have to work it. Make the calls, meet people, and enjoy the process. Its fun :>.

Leverage is crucial in your MLM marketing home business. Give me a lever, and a place to stand on and Ill move the Earth. As someone from ages old once said, is very true. Leverage is the process of finding the right people, delegating your weaknesses and maximising your streams.

Remember your MLM marketing home business is probably set as organisational structures, meaning your MLM marketing home business and the people within your organisation is a TEAM. Treat it as such. You are a team, and the success for yourself is dependant on your teams success.

Multiplication of numbers, i.e. the explosion of your team, comes from how much you care about your team. Anyone who just focuses on money, the dollar $$$ and eyes spin only hear about success, and never become one.

Serve your team, fully and they will appreciate it, and you will know they appreciate it as there teams increase in size and ultimately you get rich and say the bank account shows it to!

Ask for help. Whether in your MLM marketing home business or anywhere, we all need help. Pioneers die with arrows in there back. Successful people follow a proven plan then start innovating once a proven strategy works. Remember that.

Follow what your MLM marketing company upline tells you, ask for support, show your taking action and need there help. Commit, and write a letter to them or email and say what your committed to doing. They will help you.

And if they wont then you will go elsewhere to find someone who does help. There bank balance will be low, and the new upline who does care about your MLM marketing home business success is the one ultimately with a large bank balance.

Learn from them. If you follow the recipe, your mix will come out the same, and then once youre at the end of the plans road, make your own road, via testing, testing, measuring...

Do what you love. If your MLM marketing home business of your choice doesnt stir excitement, passion, and your love of doing it within you, then I strongly doubt you will have the drive to succeed.

Be passionate about your MLM marketing home business, then you will find that you will be successful in MLM marketing, as time will fly, you will sell a million in joy.

Love the process of success, not the destination.

Follow through with your MLM marketing business. If theres something that needs to be done, then do it now. Dont spend all the time planning. Start doing it now, today.

As long as you know the first 2 or 3 steps to take in your MLM marketing home business, and you just do it you will be more successful quicker then a Harvard graduate spending 6 months planning.

Kill procrastination by taking action. Do it now, and success is assured in your MLM marketing home business.

Persevere.

A decision and commitment to get there, is crucial. Keep turning the wheel, keep calling, and keep collecting leads. Your MLM marketing home business will flourish.

The Future of Network Marketing

Beyond what you might have heard, network marketing most certainly is not the wave of the future for product distribution. Traditional marketing methods are still valid and work well, and in all likelihood network marketing will never completely replace traditional distribution and marketing of consumer products and services.

This isnt to say network marketing is on the decline however - quite the opposite. In less than ten years (from 1995 to 2005) sales generated through network marketing have more than doubled, exceeding $30 billion dollars in the United States alone.

There is certainly a demand for both the products made available through network marketing, as well as the demand from entrepreneurs looking to other methods of starting a business.

Franchises have their place, and any traditional brick-and-mortar business will always be around.

But the convenience of operating a network marketing business from home, and the exclusivity of in-demand and valuable products only available through network marketing are attracting entrepreneurs from all walks of life - stay at home parents, career-minded individuals with a desire or need for an independent stream of income, as well as the serious investor who understands the incredible personal leverage and residual income that only network marketing can provide.

I dont think its out of the question to speculate that the future of network marketing will be very bright, however, for network marketing to become the ideal business opportunity in the worlds eyes there are many issues that need to be addressed and corrected within our industry before people as a whole see network marketing as what it should be.

Im inclined to write about the shady marketing methods that so many seem to prefer in their promotional efforts - and this definitely needs to be addressed at some point - but my main concern (and what will literally change the world when the proper concept is adopted by the network marketing industry) is the overall lack of responsibility from network marketing sponsors themselves.

97% of those who get involved with network marketing, fail.

These statistics may be acceptable in traditional business, where the person starting the business often has no clue about how to operate and build it successfully, but in network marketing this is completely unacceptable.

A responsible network marketing sponsor should be absolutely committed to the success of those they bring into their organization, yet far too many network marketers simply recruit people into their business and leave them to learn how to build it themselves.

I was discussing this topic with an associate of mine, and she had this to say:

"I know what you mean Korey but a lot of the sponsors dont have the sponsor to show them how to do it. And even if they did a lot of the people getting into the business... ...they really dont want to learn or they just think itll happen."

I agreed. But its also the responsibility of the network marketing sponsor to qualify their prospects and make sure they fully understand what network marketing is all about.

It is our responsibility to make sure those looking to us for support understand whats necessary for them to become successful - to make sure theyre in a position both mentally and financially to start a network marketing business - and if they dont fit the bill it is absolutely our responsibility to let them know this.

Whether its out of desperation or selfishness or just not knowing better, too many network marketing sponsors haphazardly bring people into their business opportunity without any concern for their prospects.

This needs to change. When it does, common sense dictates that network marketing will not only see a huge decrease in failure rates, but will also become an incredibly attractive and reputable business to get involved with.

Beyond franchising, and well beyond any other home-based business. This is the future I see for network marketing.

When people can grasp what network marketing is truly all about, we will all become more successful with our efforts. When people start helping people, instead of hype-ing people, network marketing will become one of the most respected business models in the world. Im counting the days.
